Job Overview

A leading fine art shipping company is seeking an accomplished and experienced Art Crater and Packager to join their expanding team in Sydney, Australia.

Responsibilities

  • Constructing crates that meet specific requirements, standards, and specifications.
  • Reading and following technical drawings and job sheets to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Designing structures that guarantee the safe transport and protection of items, taking pressure points into consideration and making adaptations when necessary.
  • Operating woodworking machinery, including routers, saws, and planers.
  • Fitting and securing crate components, supports for crating, mounting backing materials, fitting, and fastening frames.
  • Identifying machines and tools needed for crate construction.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in art crating and construction.
  • Experience packing, handling, and installing museum objects and artwork.
  • Physically fit and capable of completing role requirements.
  • Proficient in using various wood machining equipment.
  • Skilled in technical drawing and job specification interpretation.
  • Strong understanding of safety practices and standards in a manufacturing environment.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Candidates must have a clear police record for visa purposes.
