About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Cyber Security Technologist to join our team at the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO). As a Cyber Security Technologist, you will play a critical role in protecting Australia and Australians from threats to their security.

Key Responsibilities
  • Threat Detection and Response: Develop and implement mechanisms to monitor and detect malicious activity on ASIO systems, leveraging your understanding of emerging cyber attacks.
  • Security Event Analysis: Analyse security event logs, network traffic, and system activity to identify and understand security threats.
  • Incident Response: Respond to security incidents by investigating and resolving malicious activity, working closely with stakeholders to ensure effective incident response.
  • Threat Intelligence: Ingest and implement threat intelligence to improve threat detection and contribute to the creation of tactical and strategic intelligence.
  • Security Documentation: Develop and maintain documentation of security incidents, including root cause analysis and lessons learned.
Requirements
  • Strong Analytical Skills: Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Collaboration and Leadership: Excellent collaboration skills and demonstrated ability to lead the delivery of outcomes.
  • Security Awareness: Strong security awareness and risk management skills, with the ability to maintain up-to-date technical knowledge on the latest cyber security threats, technologies, and developments.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Relevant Degree or Experience: At the AE5/6 level, a relevant degree or equivalent work experience in a role related to the field that you are applying for (i.e. operations, engineering, and/or assurance).
  • Security Certifications: Relevant certifications within cyber security (e.g. SANS GIAC certifications, CISSIP, CISM).
  • Security Technologies: Experience with security technologies such as Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) systems, vulnerability management tools, endpoint and network security tools, threat intelligence platforms, and incident response tools.
