About the Role

AusNet Services is seeking a skilled Metering Engineer to join our Metering Engineering Team in Yarraville, Victoria. As a Metering Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of high voltage energy metering installations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct laboratory diagnostic testing and calibration of energy metering test equipment and related measurement equipment used in high voltage environments.
  • Test portable metering equipment to ensure compliance with various Australian standards.
  • Prepare technical reports to various accreditation levels as required.
  • Ensure all laboratory equipment is traceable to NMI/NATA, registered, and updated in Calnet/test equipment database.
  • Liaise with internal and external customers about the services provided by the team.
  • Assist in developing, maintaining, and expanding laboratory testing processes, procedures, and methods for the group.
  • Work in accordance with OH&S laws and company policies.
  • Understand and implement 17025 requirements.
  • Assist in organizing freight for all test equipment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science/Engineering or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience in electrical testing and calibration, with knowledge of transmission and/or distribution network compliance equipment testing methodologies.
  • Relevant qualifications and/or applied experience in electrical testing.
  • Experience in testing electrical equipment, including current transformers, voltage transformers, secondary equipment, bridges, burden boxes.
  • Exposure to setting up test equipment.
  • Demonstrated experience in failure analysis and identifying methods to resolve.
  • Understanding of NATA's role in the electrical testing environment.
