The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Computer Network and Systems Engineer to join our team in Melbourne CBD. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and security.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deploy, configure, and manage network devices to meet government and industry IT compliance standards
  • Troubleshoot network issues, including encryption devices, switches, and routers in a Windows Active Directory environment
  • Ensure production systems are secure and perform at optimal levels, interacting effectively with WANs and delivering required information to end-users
  • Collaborate with System Integration network architects to schedule upgrades and maximize network environment monitoring performance
  • Attend meetings, interact with stakeholders, and provide recommendations for improvements and enhancements
  • Confer with users to establish network specifications, perform analysis of access, workflow, security, and information requirements, and perform router administration design
  • Evaluate network performance problems, including utilization, availability, latency, and throughput to establish network plans
  • Implement the selection of equipment, including installing, configuring, and testing them
  • Define policies and procedures for networks, setup firewalls and connections, and monitor, analyse, and tune performance to ensure network performance
  • Ensure network security by creating network access, control, evaluation, and monitoring, and ensure documentation
  • Design and implement training programs for users, provide them with support and references, and carry out upgrades on network by interacting with vendors
  • Present information for budgets to satisfy financial requirements and ensure expenses are properly monitored
  • Participate in educational programs to update knowledge about the job, maintain personal networks, participate in activities of professional associations, and read professional publications
  • Ensure information is kept confidential to protect company's value
Requirements
  • Bachelor degree in Information Technology related field of study with a computer network engineering focus
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in the ICT industry
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in network infrastructure and network hardware
  • Ability to think through problems and visualize solutions
  • At least 3 years of experience to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices, including wireless access points, firewall, routers, switches, controllers
  • Knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols
  • Must have experience with Network security, LAN and WAN experience
  • Ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network communication systems
  • Provides specific detailed information for hardware and software selection
  • Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technology and products using documentation and internet resources
  • Ability to work with all levels of staff within and outside of IT and outside the organization
  • A self-starter able to work independently but comfortable working in a team environment
