About the Role:

The European Geosciences Union is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Instrumentation and Research Leader to join our team. As a key member of our research organization, you will be responsible for leading our instrumentation research and development team, coordinating the deployment of staff to projects, and fostering relationships with collaborators for instrumentation development opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the instrumentation R&D team to advance our research capabilities
  • Coordinate the deployment of staff to projects in consultation with the research leadership team
  • Foster relationships with collaborators for instrumentation development opportunities
  • Promote a vibrant and supportive research environment, ensuring safety and sustainability are prioritized

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline or an equivalent combination of qualifications and experience
  • Demonstrated experience in astronomical instrumentation or a similar area
  • Experience in leading a high-performance culture in a research environment/organization
  • Evidence of strong engagement skills and relationship management
  • A demonstrated record of adherence to professional ethics and conduct
