Job Description

This position exists to provide expert clinical care to patients with bowel cancer. The role involves assessing the complex needs of patients, planning and delivering individualized support programs, and providing education and resources to promote optimal health outcomes.

About the Role:
  • This is a part-time position for 0.4 FTE, with a contract duration of three years.
  • The successful candidate will work closely with the site manager and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement evidence-based care pathways.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and screenings for colorectal cancer patients at specific intervals throughout their treatment journey.
  • Plan and coordinate bowel care management, support, and education across various settings, including surgical, medical oncology, radiation oncology, follow-up/survivorship, and palliative care.
  • Provide specialized education and information to patients and carers about treatment options, planned outcomes, and care delivery programs.
  • Develop and implement structured referral pathways for timely referrals to allied health and supportive care service providers.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Nursing degree
  • Current AHPRA registration
  • Minimum three years post-registration experience in cancer or gastrointestinal nursing
  • Demonstrated expertise in bowel cancer nursing and knowledge of relevant care pathways
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills in a multidisciplinary context
  • Ability to work as a team member and contribute to quality improvement initiatives
