Mechanical Engineering Technician Role

Seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineering Technician to conduct inspections, testing, maintenance, and repairs on our fleet of heavy plant, trucks, asphalt pavers, profilers, and related equipment.

  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and urgent repairs on heavy plant, trucks, asphalt pavers, profilers, and associated equipment.
  • Inspect and test mechanical systems, hydraulic circuits, pneumatic systems, and engine performance to identify faults and areas for improvement.
  • Adjust, modify, and calibrate equipment and components to enhance performance and ensure operational specifications are met.
  • Install, assemble, and test mechanical components and systems to guarantee quality and reliability.
  • Prepare accurate maintenance records, technical reports, and parts requisitions to support efficient operations.
  • Use precision measuring tools and diagnostic equipment to verify compliance with engineering and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with supervisors and operators to identify performance issues and recommend practical solutions to improve overall efficiency.
  • Maintain the workshop, tools, and equipment in a clean, safe, and serviceable condition to promote a healthy working environment.
  • Evaluate all work for compliance with Work Health & Safety (WHS), environmental, and quality requirements.
Requirements
  • Trade qualification as a Mechanical Engineering Technician, Fitter, or equivalent is essential.
  • Proven experience in maintaining and repairing heavy plant, trucks, and specialized asphalt paving and profiling machinery is highly valued.
  • Strong skills in diagnosing and repairing hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems are crucial for success in this role.
  • Ability to interpret and work from technical drawings, manuals, and specifications is necessary.
  • White Card and relevant machinery certifications are required.
  • Solid understanding of Work Health & Safety (WHS) requirements is essential.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with a proactive approach to problem-solving, is highly desirable.
