Regulatory Practice and Standards Team Leader

The Treasury's Compliance Branch is accountable for ensuring compliance with Australia's foreign investment laws.
This involves:
- Educating investors on their obligations under the foreign investment legislation
- Conducting investigations to assess compliance, as well as other forms of assessment
- Enforcing action against non-compliance and implementing penalties and sanctions where necessary
- Developing guidance on the application of the foreign investment framework for internal decision-makers
This role focuses on creating and executing strategies, policies, and procedures to support Treasury's capability for assessing applications for foreign investment approvals, and compliance with the foreign investment laws.
The Team Leader will be responsible for:
- Developing Regulatory Practice Directions that support the Foreign Investment Division (FID) as a regulator
- Leading engagement with FID teams to research and develop current and evolving practices
- Collaborating with colleagues to support regulatory capability development and embed improvement in partnership with operational areas of the Division
- Taking a leading role in workshops and forums focused on problem-solving in the operational policy context
- Providing advice and support on operational policy and regulatory practice matters to FID staff
- Supporting the Director in managing section priorities, including supervising and developing team members
