Job Title: Electrical Systems Specialist

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled electrical engineer with expertise in substation secondary design to join our team. The ideal candidate will work on projects involving transport, defence, and energy infrastructure throughout Australia.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct analytical studies including protection coordination, load flow, short circuit, and arc flash hazard analysis.
  • Develop protection system drawings and SLD's depicting the arrangement and interconnections of protection equipment.
  • Determine CT and VT sizing requirements based on power system parameters.
  • Develop technical specifications for protection relays based on application.
  • Perform relay setting calculations and produce comprehensive reports.
  • Collaborate with primary systems design engineers, project teams, and coordinate with clients, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Mentor junior engineers in electrical systems design.
  • Support proposals and bid work for various market sectors.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor of Electrical Engineering or equivalent related field.
  • Registration as a Chartered Engineer/Chartered Professional Engineer/RPEQ/RPEV (or ability to become so).
  • Previous experience in Transport, Utility, Defence, or Infrastructure field as an electrical engineer.
  • Proven expertise in secondary design, including protection, control, AC/DC systems, SCADA, and related studies.
  • MTM Accredited as Designer / Checker – required.
  • TNSP or DNSP experience - desirable.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Strong project management skills with ability to prioritize tasks effectively and work to tight deadlines.
