Job Description

We are seeking a skilled 3D Creature Animation Specialist to join our team at Industrial Light & Magic. In this role, you will be responsible for the creation of high-quality character and creature simulations using various software technologies.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing rigging and enveloping in Maya for complex assets, such as vehicles, characters, and creatures.
  • Running cloth, hair, rigid body, crowd, or muscle simulations to achieve realistic animations.
  • Troubleshooting creature pipeline issues for artists in other disciplines, ensuring seamless collaboration and efficient workflow.
  • Scripting utilities, tools, and plug-ins in Maya to automate tasks and enhance productivity.
  • Participating in reviews, dailies, and department meetings to ensure alignment with project goals and objectives.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • 1-2 years of relevant professional experience in computer graphics, fine arts, design, or photography, or related field.
  • Experience as a Maya rigger for assets in digital animation, visual effects, games, commercials.
  • Proficiency in running simulation shotwork and corrective sculpting techniques.
  • Knowledge of anatomy and enveloping principles.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a positive attitude and ability to work under pressure.
Salary

The estimated salary for this position is $90,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience and location.
