The successful candidate will provide geotechnical engineering expertise to support the implementation of effective geotechnical controls in operational areas and lead geotechnical-related internal studies. This role requires regular travel to mine sites, including Haile, Didipio, Macraes, and Waihi.
Key Responsibilities- Provide geotechnical and hydrogeological governance and technical support to operational and project teams.
- Develop and implement group geotechnical standards, ensuring effective application and governance framework.
- Identify and implement innovative geotechnical and hydrogeological solutions, ensuring best practice ground control management standards.
- Ensure site risk registers incorporate up-to-date controls for geotechnical and hydrogeological risks.
- Contribute to the preparation of ground control, ground and surface water, rehabilitation, and closure management plans.
- Provide Subject Matter Expertise (SME) for consultants and contractors, managing resulting contracts for study, project, or operational purposes.
- Conduct routine site visits to coach and provide technical expertise in addressing geotechnical challenges.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Geotechnical Engineering or equivalent.
- 15+ years in Open Pit and Underground Mining operations.
- Extensive practical experience in a similar role.
- Competent in geotechnical software packages.
- Experience across commodities and mining methods, primarily in hard rock environments.
- Ability to develop and peer review geotechnical stability models.
- Demonstrated experience in a leadership role within a technical environment.
- Proven skills in creating strong working relationships and influencing internal and external groups.
