Job Title: College Psychologist - Mental Health Specialist

Job Summary:

Aquinas College is seeking a highly motivated and skilled College Psychologist to join our team. As a College Psychologist, you will be responsible for promoting academic success, positive psychological health, social and emotional wellbeing with students through the delivery of professional practice in accordance with the Psychologist's Code of Professional Conduct.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-standard psychological counselling, therapy, and programs for individuals and groups for a range of mental health, emotional, social, and family issues.
  • Undertake educational and psychological assessment and diagnosis, and plan and deliver evidence-based interventions in collaboration with applicable staff, relevant external professionals, and parents/guardians.
  • Develop and implement strategies to promote academic success, positive psychological health, social and emotional wellbeing with students.
  • Collaborate with teachers and support staff to develop and implement individual learning plans and advocate for students with special needs or other issues.
  • Contribute to professional learning and policy development.
  • Respond to critical incidents and emergencies.

Requirements:

  • 4-year or equivalent degree in Psychology.
  • Current registration, either provisionally or as a fully registered Psychologist AHPRA/Psychology Board of Australia.
  • Accreditation to Work in a Catholic school.
  • Valid Working with Children Check clearance.
  • Satisfactory National Police clearance.
  • Mandatory Reporting training.
  • Maintain professional competence and the currency of specialist expertise through a commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Australian Work Rights.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience as a Psychologist in a day or boarding school setting.
  • Prior experience working with those from diverse cultural backgrounds, including Indigenous young people within boarding/residential contexts.
  • Experience recommending relevant, evidenced-based classroom strategies to teachers and support staff for assistance with individual student behavioural management, self-regulation issues, and social competency skills.
  • Experience making recommendations in relation to students' individual learning plans and advocating for students with special needs or other issues.
  • Experience in contributing to professional learning and policy development.
  • Experience with, and response to, critical incidents and emergencies.
