Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this role is AU$70,000 - AU$90,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.

Job Description

This exciting opportunity exists within our team for an Auxiliary Firefighter to join us in delivering emergency response services to the community. The successful candidate will be responsible for responding to fire and other emergency incidents, promoting community safety, and contributing to community education activities.

You will also develop and maintain competencies by participating in regular drills and training courses provided by the QFES. Additionally, you will operate specialist firefighting equipment, contribute to upkeep and hygiene of station facilities, and ensure maintenance and repair of operational equipment and station facilities.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a current Blue Card, live or work within a reasonable distance of an auxiliary fire station, and hold an Australian Permanent Resident Status. You should also have a Manual C Class driver's licence.

You will be required to commit to attending 50% of calls as a day worker with routine hours or 30% of calls as a shift worker with non-routine hours. You must also attend 75% of regular drill and training sessions, obtain an MRV licence within 12 months of employment, and participate in ongoing skills acquisition and maintenance programs.

Your key accountabilities as an Auxiliary Firefighter include:

  • Responding to fire and other emergency incidents
  • Promoting community safety and emergency preparedness
  • Developing and maintaining competencies through participation in drills and training courses
  • Operating specialist firefighting equipment
  • Contributing to upkeep and hygiene of station facilities
  • Maintaining and repairing operational equipment and station facilities
  • Contribute to incident reporting and general station administration
