Senior Ecologist Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Ecologist to fill this critical position in our organisation. As a Senior Ecologist, you will provide high-quality services and expert advice in your area of expertise to clients and colleagues, participate in field survey programs, interpret environmental legislation, and develop technical reports detailing the outcomes of these surveys and their implications for environmental impact assessment and management.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert ecological advice and services to clients and colleagues
  • Participate in field survey programs to collect ecological data
  • Interpret and apply environmental legislation to projects across various sectors
  • Develop comprehensive technical reports on the findings of field surveys and their implications for environmental impact assessment and management
  • Assist in preparing tenders and proposals that showcase our expertise
  • Mentor junior staff members and lead field trips to ensure knowledge transfer and skill development
  • Integrate technical work into multidisciplinary assessments and project teams to deliver high-quality results

Requirements:
  • Hold an appropriate tertiary qualification in Science, Environmental Science, or a related field
  • Have 5-6+ years' experience in an ecological role in the consulting sector or an equivalent role in Government
  • Have experience in designing and implementing flora and fauna field surveys and monitoring programs
  • Possess excellent flora and/or fauna identification skills
  • Be skilled in report writing and computer use
  • Have proven ability to work under deadlines and manage multiple tasks effectively
  • Have demonstrated project management skills in client management and budget control
