About You
  1. You must be registered with AHPRA and provide evidence of your registration.
  2. You must have immunisation accreditation approved by the relevant State/Territory Health Department.
  3. You must have a current driver's licence and car.
Position Summary

As a Registered Nurse (Immunisation) at VaxWorks Health Services Pty Ltd, you will be responsible for the smooth and efficient functioning of our clinics and providing an exceptional standard of care to our clients and their staff.

As a specialist nurse in this role, you will maintain a professional growth mindset, take advantage of ongoing professional education, and take responsibility for your ongoing learning.

Key Requirements
  1. You must have a minimum of one year's nursing experience, preferably in a community-based role.
  2. You must have demonstrated experience in the administration of vaccines to adults, with the administration of vaccines to babies, infants, and adolescents being advantageous but not mandatory.
  3. You must have sound knowledge of communicable diseases, with a particular focus on influenza, occupational immunisation programs, and immunisation practice in workplace and school settings.
  4. You must have the ability to manage post-vaccination emergencies with limited assistance.
  5. You must have a thorough knowledge of immunisation procedures and practices.
  6. You must have well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to gain co-operation and assistance from clients.
  7. You must be able to work unsupervised and set work priorities to achieve set objectives within given timeframes.
  8. You must have well-developed administrative skills with the ability to operate various computer programs.
  9. You must have experience in similar roles as a practice nurse or community-based nurse, with background or training in emergency nursing or occupational health nursing being highly beneficial.
  10. You must be competent in the use of relevant equipment and software.
  11. You must have sound knowledge of current legislation, practice standards, policies, and procedures.
  12. You must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with people from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
  13. You must have sound planning and organisational skills.
Job Responsibilities
  1. You will administer vaccines and conduct immunisation clinics in accordance with VaxWorks Health Services Pty Ltd immunisation services protocols and in compliance with the relevant State/Territory requirements and National Health & Medical Research Council (NHMRC) recommendations.
  2. You will input, maintain, and provide relevant records of vaccinations on the VaxWorks immunisation record management system.
  3. You will maintain adequate supplies of vaccines and consumables for use at immunisation clinics.
  4. You will ensure vaccines are stored and delivered in accordance with the vaccine management policy, based on National Vaccine Storage guidelines.
  5. You will provide efficient and effective communication with clients and staff.
  6. You will keep clients updated with any immediate issues relating to the timeliness of their clinics.
  7. You will deal with clients, suppliers, and other employees professionally at all times.
  8. You will promptly report any incidents.

Personal Development and Conduct
  1. You will identify and act upon your own training and development needs to maintain sufficient currency of practice and knowledge to safely practice as an immunisation nurse.
  2. You will ensure adherence to company Equal Employment Opportunity, Privacy procedures, and other policies and programs.
  3. You will participate fully in Recruitment and Induction processes.
Clinical
  1. You will perform clinical duties within the required level of clinical competency, according to best available evidence.
  2. You will explain your position and procedures to patients, ensuring consent, providing them with support and reassurance.
  3. You will promote the benefits of immunisation, advise regarding the safety and appropriateness of immunisations, and the safe administration of vaccines in accordance with the Australian Immunisation Handbook.
  4. You will manage vaccines in accordance with the National Vaccine Storage Guidelines.
  5. You will effectively and safely manage immunisation emergencies.
  6. You will maintain accurate clinical documentation.
  7. You will maintain stocks of clinical supplies, including correct storage (such as refrigeration of vaccines), regular stock rotation, removal of out-of-date stock, and ordering supplies.
