Emergency Medicine Practitioner

The Emergency Department is a fast-paced environment that sees around 90,000 patients annually. As an Emergency Medicine Registrar, you will work in one of Melbourne's busiest emergency departments.
Rotations include standard rotations and exclusive Special Skills Terms available only at the hospital. These terms boast regular hours with no night shifts.
While employed in the Emergency Department, Registrars will usually work a rotating roster, including day, evening and night duty. The roster will involve weekend and Public Holiday duty, with no on-call component.
Our registrars also have opportunities to access non-clinical time to participate in committees or working with EP's in various administrative areas.
One of Melbourne's biggest and most effective Short Stay Units provides opportunities to practice and learn clinical medicine in a controlled environment.
The Emergency Department is separated geographically into Adults and Paediatrics; there are ample opportunities to work shifts in the dedicated paediatric area to work towards completion of the paediatric logbook.
Doctors in Training are strongly encouraged to participate in current research or to start a project of their own, including those to satisfy the research component of projects.
As a Registrar, you will be expected to assess and manage patients according to your level of experience. You will also be expected to develop and implement an understanding of the needs and processes of ED resource management appropriate to your level of experience.
