Aircraft Structural Technician

As an Aircraft Structural Technician with the Australian Defence Force (ADF), you will play a critical role in maintaining the airworthiness of our military aircraft. Your responsibilities will include inspecting, maintaining, and repairing primary and secondary structures on advanced aircraft, such as the P-8 A Poseidon, C-17 A Globemaster III, or F-35 A Lightning II.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Handling and replenishing aircraft flight lines
  • Removing and installing aircraft components
  • Manufacturing and repairing aircraft plumbing and ducting
  • Conducting heat treatment and welding on aluminum and alloys
  • Maintaining tools and machinery used on aircraft
  • Preparing and using aircraft support equipment
  • Identifying aircraft technical equipment and spares
  • Preparing and packaging technical equipment for transport
  • Amending and maintaining technical publications

You will work as part of a highly skilled team, responsible for ensuring the aircraft structure is airworthy and ready for operation. Your duties may also include performing tasks such as inspection, maintenance, servicing, assembly, removal, and installation of aircraft components, including wings, flight control surfaces, fuselage, and engine structure.

Upon completion of initial military and employment training, you will enjoy a salary package starting from $80,549. Following training, you may be posted to one of the major Air Force bases around Australia, such as RAAF Base Amberley, Williamtown, or Edinburgh.

To be eligible for this role, you must be at least 17 at the time of enlistment, an Australian Citizen, and have passed Year 10 English, Maths, and Science (with a Physics component).
