Challenger Limited, an investment management firm, is seeking a Senior Analyst for its Life Business Performance Team.

The role will involve assisting in the monthly production of reporting and analysis for senior management and the board, including creating the normalised profit result, analysing variances to budget, monthly P&L and balance sheet analysis, and quarterly and semi-annual ASX and market disclosures.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of financial products, including fixed income, equities, bonds, and will be able to synthesise large amounts of data into meaningful insights and analysis.

The Senior Analyst will also be responsible for identifying opportunities to innovate and improve business processes, increasing efficiencies and reducing risk.

The ideal candidate will have a tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting, or Economics, and at least 3-5 years of relevant experience in banking, financial services, or investment management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analysis and explanation of P&L and balance sheet movements across the full suite of Challenger Life's financial assets.
  • Understanding and reporting on fixed income attribution, including FX, interest rates, and credit spread.
  • Understanding new transactions and systems and assessing their impact on the team.
  • Preparation and posting of journals into the general ledger for application of Challenger's management reporting framework.
  • Deal with key senior stakeholders, including the CEO, CFO, Life Chief Executive, Life CFO, Appointed Actuary, Chief Investment Officer, and Portfolio Managers.

What You'll Need

  • Tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting, or Economics.
  • At least 3-5 years of relevant experience in banking, financial services, or investment management.
  • Strong understanding of financial products, including fixed income, equities, bonds.
  • Ability to synthesise large amounts of data into meaningful insights and analysis.

Desirable

  • Experience with SQL and database design/management.
  • Experience with Anaplan or other multi-dimensional planning tools.
