About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Secondary Drama teacher to join our dynamic Arts department at a leading International Baccalaureate school in Melbourne's West. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to teach Drama to students in Years 7-9, contributing to the school's commitment to providing high-quality, student-centred education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement engaging and comprehensive drama curricula aligned with the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) guidelines.
- Design lesson plans that cover various aspects of drama, including acting, directing, stagecraft, and theory.
- Develop and administer assessments to evaluate students' performance, understanding, and progress in drama and provide constructive feedback and grades in accordance with school policies and VCAA.
- Help students develop their acting, directing, scriptwriting, and stagecraft skills, encouraging creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration among students.
- Organise and oversee drama clubs, school productions, and other extracurricular activities related to drama.
- Plan and execute school events such as drama performances, showcases, and open days, coordinating with technical staff and other departments to ensure event successes.
Requirements:
- Must hold unrestricted working rights in Australia.
- Current VIT registration is essential.
- Proven experience teaching secondary Drama in Australia within a Secondary school setting.
- Ability to provide two education-based references from the last 5 years (student-teacher mentors are acceptable).
