Commercial Compliance Manager

Suncorp Group is seeking a highly skilled Compliance Manager to join our Commercial Insurance team. As a key member of our risk management team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the effective control of compliance risk across our business.
Key Responsibilities- Lead a team to assess the ongoing adequacy of compliance arrangements in relation to internal and external environment, including regulatory change, projects, and regulator focus areas.
- Build capability within the team to drive consistent and pragmatic compliance management practices applicable to Commercial Insurance.
- Assess the adequacy of compliance arrangements relevant to the business portfolio, including monitoring of compliance control effectiveness, governance arrangements, and compliance plan coverage.
- Provide strong subject matter expertise on the regulatory compliance environment, obligations, licenses, and key projects, and report insights to executive management committees.
- Manage ASIC administration activities and authorizations relevant to the business portfolio, including supporting Responsible Manager processes.
- Collaborate with compliance teams, business risk partners, and business stakeholders across the Group to share insights and promote continuous improvement and consistency of approach in relation to compliance management practices.
- Tertiary qualifications in business, commerce, risk, law, or other related degree.
- Australian Compliance Institute or Governance Institute of Australia membership or accreditation or similar.
- 8-10 years regulatory compliance/risk management, legal, or commercial experience in the financial services industry, specifically covering Commercial Insurance.
- Proven experience in dealing with multiple stakeholders, including senior management.
- Proven experience in managing external partners, relationships, and negotiations.
- A demonstrated understanding of the Enterprise Risk Management Framework or an in-depth understanding of corporate compliance programs, enterprise risk management frameworks, and compliance methodologies.
- Ability to think strategically, laterally, and from a Group and business portfolio viewpoint.
- Ability to balance regulatory and risk governance requirements with commercial realities and business goals.
- Strong facilitation, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to readily interpret legislation, regulation, and standards and to assess the impacts on business portfolios.
