Safety Improvement and Investigation Specialist

- Develop and Implement Health and Safety Initiatives: The Safety Improvement and Investigation Advisor will develop and implement health and safety initiatives to improve safety management processes, including investigation quality improvements, permit to work, contractor management, digital safety management system (SMS) integration, fatigue monitoring and management system, safety culture and leadership training, hazard identification and risk assessment enhancement, sustainable safety practices, and dehydration and heat stress prevention.
- Maintain Health and Safety Management Systems: The Safety Improvement and Investigation Advisor will maintain the health and safety management systems, ensuring they are up-to-date and effective in managing risks.
- Develop Frontline Leaders' Health and Safety Knowledge: The Safety Improvement and Investigation Advisor will develop frontline leaders' health and safety knowledge, providing training and coaching to ensure they understand their roles and responsibilities in managing safety.
- Review and Moderate Incidents: The Safety Improvement and Investigation Advisor will review and moderate incidents, ensuring investigations are completed to a quality that identifies root causes and puts corrective actions in place to prevent recurrence.
- Coaching and Training: The Safety Improvement and Investigation Advisor will coach and train all workforce on safety management, providing guidance and support to ensure they understand their roles and responsibilities in managing safety.
- Incident Reporting: The Safety Improvement and Investigation Advisor will ensure incident reporting is completed through the Safety Risk System (SRS).
- Stakeholder Engagement: The Safety Improvement and Investigation Advisor will engage with internal and external stakeholders, including contractor representatives, shutdowns, projects team, and DEMIRS.
- Quality Interactions: The Safety Improvement and Investigation Advisor will coach operational leads on quality interactions, including planned task observations and safety conversations.
- Health and Safety Audits: The Safety Improvement and Investigation Advisor will conduct health and safety audits to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Training and Development: The Safety Improvement and Investigation Advisor will assist in developing and presenting health and safety training packages for use across the site.
- Prestart and Information Meetings: The Safety Improvement and Investigation Advisor will facilitate prestart and information meetings, safety and health representative committee (HSR) meetings, and toolbox meetings.
- Strong Background in Health and Safety: The successful candidate will have a strong background in health and safety, with expertise in WHS laws and practical safety system management.
- Leadership and Communication Skills: The successful candidate will have strong leadership and communication skills, able to lead diverse teams and manage change, driving alignment with safety goals.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: The successful candidate will be able to use data to inform decisions and continuously improve safety performance.
