Senior Lawyer Writer, Commercial, Practical Law Expert

We are seeking an experienced Senior Lawyer Writer, Commercial to join our team at Practical Law Australia. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for creating high-quality commercial know-how resources, including practice notes, standard documents, and checklists.
Key Responsibilities- Stay up-to-date with commercial law topics and monitor legal, practice, and market developments relevant to lawyers in both in-house and private practice environments.
- Plan, research, write, draft, edit, and maintain premium quality commercial know-how resources.
- Support internal peer review processes to ensure content is legally correct and up-to-date.
- Meet with external customers, industry experts, and sector experts to build a superior understanding of commercial law and related developments.
- Provide legal expertise in responding to queries from external customers about commercial law and practice.
- Assist in the planning, development, and publication of commissioned content authored by commercial lawyers in private practice and in-house legal teams.
To be successful in this role, you will need to meet the following requirements:
- Be admitted to practice as a lawyer in Australia, with a minimum of 5 years+ PQE experience, working as a commercial lawyer, most recently in an in-house role or a top/mid-tier private practice.
- Have an established reputation as an expert in your field.
- Have a genuine and demonstrable interest in commercial law and in helping to re-invent the way legal know-how works.
- Be able to work independently and communicate effectively with your manager and the rest of the Practical Law team.
- Have strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Be able to articulate and present your ideas, strategies, and decisions.
- Have a proactive, "get it done" mindset, always looking for solutions and not shy about pursuing them.
- Have a positive attitude, be team-oriented, flexible, and analytical.
- Have attention to detail.
