Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Technician to join our team. As a Mechanical Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our plant and equipment. Your expertise will be essential in investigating and resolving equipment failures, implementing improvements, and supervising plant shutdowns.

You will work closely with our Engineering team to commission new equipment and upgrades, and supervise 3rd party contractors to ensure work is carried out to our safety standards. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining and inspecting our assets, ensuring compliance with legislative standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate and resolve equipment failures, implementing improvements to prevent future occurrences
  • Supervise plant shutdowns, ensuring work is undertaken safely and efficiently
  • Commission new equipment and upgrades, working closely with the Engineering team
  • Supervise 3rd party contractors, ensuring work is carried out to our safety standards
  • Maintain and inspect assets, ensuring compliance with legislative standards
  • Contribute to the effective implementation and improvement of our CMMS system and asset management system
Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar technical role
  • Extensive knowledge of mechanical installations, repairs, inspections, and fault finding on rotating equipment, hydraulics, conveyors, and valves
  • Commissioning experience
  • Management of Change
  • Previous experience working in a foundry or on induction furnaces (desirable)
  • Mechanical trade certificate, preferably Cert III or IV in Engineering or supervision or similar
  • Vcat I or II (desirable)
  • Confined space, working at height, Construction white card, Class C drivers' licence, hazardous area training
  • Registered supervised gas fitter (desirable)
