Job Overview

The role of Cardiac Anaesthetist requires an experienced professional to provide high-quality anaesthesia services for cardiac and general surgical cases. This involves performing and interpreting transoesophageal echocardiography (TOE) and participating in teaching, research, and quality improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide comprehensive anaesthesia services for a diverse caseload, including complex cardiac and general surgical procedures.
  • Perform and interpret TOE with accuracy and precision, ensuring optimal patient outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the team to design and implement quality improvement initiatives, promoting excellence in patient care.
  • Engage in teaching and research activities, contributing to the development of expertise in cardiac anaesthesia.
  • Participate in on-call rosters, providing critical care support to patients requiring emergency interventions.
Requirements:
  • Fellowship of ANZCA or equivalent medical organisation.
  • Subspecialty training and experience in cardiac anaesthesia, with a focus on delivering exceptional patient care.
  • Proficiency in intraoperative TOE, with a strong understanding of its applications and limitations.
  • Recent experience working in tertiary hospitals, preferably in cardiac anaesthesia roles.
  • Specialist registration with AHPRA or eligibility as an International Medical Graduate (IMG) under the specialist pathway.
