Overview: La Trobe University's School of Agriculture, Biomedicine and Environment invites applications for a PhD research project investigating the impact of inter-specific competition on species responses to climate change.

About the Project: This research project aims to examine the role of competitive interactions in shaping species thermal performance and capacity to adapt to climate change using Drosophila as a model organism. The successful candidate will gain skills in animal handling, experimental design, field work planning, and science in evolution, ecology, and thermal physiology.

Key Responsibilities: The successful candidate will conduct field and laboratory experiments, collect and analyze data, and contribute to the development of research papers and presentations.

Requirements: To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must meet the entry requirements for a PhD at La Trobe University. The successful candidate will have a strong background in biology, ecology, or a related field, excellent research skills, and experience with animal handling and experimental design.

Scholarship Details: This is a full-time PhD scholarship open to domestic and international candidates. The successful candidate will receive a stipend of approximately $28,000 per annum (tax-free), plus tuition fees for up to 4 years. The scholarship also includes opportunities for professional development and collaboration with international researchers.
