About the Role
The Deputy Director of Pharmacy is responsible for the effective operation of cancer pharmacy services across the Calvary Mater Newcastle Hospital (CMN) in collaboration with the Director of Pharmacy. The role requires a strong leader who can oversee the provision and maintenance of high quality, efficient and innovative cancer pharmacy services and operations. This includes supervising daily operations, managing personnel, and maintaining appropriate staffing allocations for delivery of effective pharmaceutical care.

Key Responsibilities
This role includes:
  • Demonstrating commitment to education through attendance and participation at pharmacy department education sessions, relevant conferences and/or seminars.
  • Ensuring legislative requirements, accreditation standards and other relevant guidelines relating to the pharmacy service are implemented and adhered to.
  • Ensuring pharmacy services are provided in a manner to ensure patient safety with respect to medications is optimised.
  • Working with the Director of Pharmacy and Hospital Executive to deliver goals of strategic business plans that meet both current and future needs.

Qualifications and Experience
To be successful in this role, you must have:
  • Registered as a practicing pharmacist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Post registration clinical or management/leadership qualifications or equivalent skills/experience.
  • Extensive experience in hospital pharmacy practice, preferably in a large teaching hospital, including experience managing the provision of pharmacy services in accordance with National Safety and Quality Health Standards.
