Apparel and Accessories Buyer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Buyer to join our team at Sussan. As a Buyer, you will be responsible for selecting and developing a range of innovative and relevant products across our Apparel and Accessories categories. Your passion, experience, and drive will play an integral part in this role, where you will be communicating your creativity and innovation for all product development to ensure they are right on trend.
Key Responsibilities- Buy merchandise ensuring you achieve budgeted sales results, meet gross profit targets, and identify growth opportunities
- Ensure OTB, margins, and pricing strategy for the department are being achieved
- Demonstrate an understanding of trends as they relate to the Sussan customer
- Demonstrate an understanding of product construction, fabric/materials, and their performance in styling, durability, and care
- Build strong internal and external stakeholder relationships
- Brief supplier base clearly when requesting samples, and negotiate costs to ensure best price
- Review and sign off all development and PP samples to ensure they meet Sussan's quality, fit, and standards
- Fashion/Design/Merchandising diploma or Business/Commerce degree
- Previous experience as a designer, fashion buyer, or product developer, ideally across the apparel category
- Knowledge of and exposure to quality control and fitting of garments
- Strong communication, leadership, and mentoring skills
- Strong organisational skills to manage critical paths, deadlines, and lead times
- Proven direct sourcing experience
- Strong negotiation skills and commercial awareness
- Demonstrated understanding of financial management, including assortment planning and OTB management
- Solid understanding of the local and international market place
