About the Role

The VMware Engineer position at Macquarie offers a unique opportunity to be part of a dynamic team responsible for delivering cutting-edge virtualization services. As a key player in the Virtualization Services team, you will contribute to the development, maintenance, and support of enterprise virtualization technology in a hybrid cloud/on-premises environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide top-notch technical support for a wide range of VMware products, including vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, and vSAN.
  • Manage storage and networking resources within virtualized environments to ensure optimal performance.
  • Continuously monitor and optimize the VMware setup to maintain high performance and availability.
  • Identify innovative solutions to enhance system reliability and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in VMware administration and engineering (vSphere 7+, ESXi, vCenter, vSAN).
  • Strong knowledge of hardware virtualization technologies, specifically VMware vSphere version 7+, VSAN, and vRealize Operations Manager.
  • Experience supporting multiple hardware models (Dell, HPe).
  • Strong knowledge of VMware metro-clusters and storage replication technology.
  • Solid knowledge of monitoring and logging tools (Splunk, Prometheus).
  • Experience integrating new solutions with existing management toolsets, such as vRealize Operations, Log Insight, and automation platforms.
  • Proficiency with scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash).
  • Beneficial to have DevOps tools experience and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools experience, such as Terraform or Ansible.
