Outdoor Grounds Maintenance Worker

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic individual to join our team as an Outdoor Grounds Maintenance Worker. The successful candidate will have experience working in outdoor environments, including university grounds and age care homes.

The role involves a variety of tasks, including trimming edges, laying turf, pruning trees, mowing lawns, sowing, planting, weeding, spreading fertilizer, clearing shrubs, and trimming hedges. Basic machinery such as mowers and whipper snippers will be used, and occasional sweeping and cleaning of paths, gutters, and drains may also be required.

The ideal candidate will have excellent physical fitness, be able to lift up to 10kgs, and possess a positive attitude and excellent work ethic. A driver's licence and own vehicle are highly desirable but not essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Trimming edges, laying turf, pruning trees, mowing lawns, sowing, planting, weeding, spreading fertilizer, clearing shrubs, and trimming hedges
  • Use of basic machinery such as mowers and whipper snippers
  • Occasional sweeping and cleaning of paths, gutters, and drains
  • General landscaping, gardening, and overall grounds maintenance work

Requirements:

  • Experience in a similar environment desirable
  • Driver's licence and own vehicle highly desirable
  • At least 2 references from previous roles (team leaders, leading hands, project managers etc)
  • Physically fit to lift up to 10kgs
  • A positive attitude and excellent work ethic
  • Safety focused
