The role of the performing arts teacher is multifaceted and engaging, providing a unique opportunity to foster students' growth and development. The classroom teacher will work closely with a diverse student population in a vibrant and culturally rich environment.
The teaching and learning program is divided into three sections: F-2, 3-4, and 5-6, each overseen by a Learning Specialist who provides planning support, coaching, and leadership. This structure enables teachers to focus on effective lesson planning and delivery, while also receiving support and guidance when needed.
A Response to Intervention Model ensures that all students are screened regularly using normed and standardized assessments. This model allows teachers to identify areas where students may need additional support and develop targeted strategies to address these needs.
Our wellbeing program incorporates Respectful Relationships, the Berry Street Education Model, and School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support systems. We explicitly teach students to identify their emotions and develop strategies for self-regulation, promoting a positive and supportive school culture.
The Inclusion Hub offers access to a multidisciplinary team, including an Occupational Therapist, Speech Therapist, and Play Therapist. Students are timetabled for individual or small-group sessions throughout the week, providing targeted support and addressing specific needs.
As a performing arts teacher, your primary focus will be on the planning, preparation, and teaching of programs to achieve specific student outcomes. You will engage in critical reflection and inquiry to improve knowledge and skills, ensuring that you effectively engage students and promote their learning.
In addition to your classroom responsibilities, you will have opportunities to contribute to the school program beyond the classroom as you gain experience and build your professional network.
Key requirements for this role include:
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to plan and deliver engaging lessons
- Capacity to work collaboratively with colleagues and other stakeholders
- Strong organizational and time management skills
Benefits of working at our school include:
- Opportunities for professional development and growth
- A supportive and inclusive school culture
- Access to a range of wellbeing programs and resources
- Flexible working arrangements and a commitment to work-life balance
We are committed to creating a positive and supportive learning environment, where students feel valued, respected, and motivated to succeed. If you are a passionate and dedicated educator, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.
