Legal Counsel

We are seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to join our team. As a key member of our corporate services division, you will play a pivotal role in providing expert legal advice and support to our operations.

Your primary responsibilities will include delivering timely and practical legal advice, managing complex legal matters, and supporting the University Solicitor on key projects and priorities.

You will work closely with faculties and divisions to proactively manage legal risk and enable confident and informed decision-making.

The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of Australian commercial and administrative law, including regulatory frameworks and evolving government policy.

A demonstrated ability to deliver ethical, independent legal advice on complex matters is essential.

Key Requirements:

  • Admitted as a Solicitor in Australia, with at least five years' post-admission experience.
  • Current unregistered Queensland Law Society Practising Certificate, or eligibility to obtain one.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian commercial and administrative law, including regulatory frameworks and evolving government policy.
  • Demonstrated legal experience in complex organisations, ideally within higher education.
