Job Title: Principal Analyst, Gender Responsive Budgeting

 

Role Overview:

The Victorian Government's Budget Strategy Group is seeking a highly skilled Principal Analyst to lead the development and implementation of gender responsive budgeting within whole-of-government frameworks, policies, and processes.

This two-year fixed term opportunity will involve producing high-quality advice on significant economic and social policy issues impacting gender equality, managing the preparation of methodologies or tools to assess the impact of State budgets on gender equality over time, and presenting persuasive policy and economic arguments and analyses to senior executives and other key stakeholders.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated strong conceptual, research, and problem-solving skills with knowledge in gender-based economic and social policy analysis. They will also possess excellent oral and written communication skills, a proven ability to negotiate and influence others to achieve strategic objectives, and high-level capability in building productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

A relevant tertiary qualification, such as economics, public policy, law, or accounting, is essential, and postgraduate level qualifications in economics would be highly regarded.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement gender responsive budgeting frameworks, policies, and processes across government departments.
  • Provide high-quality advice on economic and social policy issues impacting gender equality, including the impact of government resource allocation on gender equality.
  • Manage the preparation of methodologies or tools to assess the impact of State budgets on gender equality over time.
  • Present persuasive policy and economic arguments and analyses to senior executives and other key stakeholders.
Requirements:

  • Strong conceptual, research, and problem-solving skills with knowledge in gender-based economic and social policy analysis.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information to senior executives and other key stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to negotiate and influence others to achieve strategic objectives.
  • High-level capability in building productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
