Job OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Butcher to join our team on a Permanent Full-Time basis at 38 hours a week. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing meat for sale, maintaining cleanliness and organization of work areas, and ensuring all meats are handled and stored safely.
Key Responsibilities- Meat Preparation: Get meat ready for sale by deboning, trimming fat, and cutting, mincing, and grinding meat to the desired shape and size for display or customer orders.
- Breaded Meat Cuts: Prepare breaded meat cuts, as well as marinating, seasoning, and curing special cuts.
- Meat Selection: Choose and prepare meat for making smallgoods.
- Machinery Operation: Use machines to grind, mix, mince, and tenderize meat.
- Inventory Management: Ensure all meats are handled and stored safely and in accordance with health and safety regulations.
- Order Fulfillment: Receive, inspect, and store meat upon delivery, ensuring quality and freshness.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate with the team to maintain adequate inventory levels and manage meat supplies efficiently.
- Cleanliness and Organization: Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas and equipment.
- Customer Service: Offer meaningful advice to customers on ways to preserve meats they don't intend using the same day and educate them on their choice of meat to satisfy their meat desires.
- English Skills: Excellent English skills.
- Right to Work: Right to work in Australia.
- Qualifications: AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV.
- Work Experience: Minimum of 2 years of work experience in the occupation or related field.
- Skills: Team management skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, attention to detail, strong organizational and time management skills, familiarity with industry best practices, proficiency in all aspects of food safety, positive communication skills, energy and attitude, leadership qualities, butcher skills such as cutting techniques, meat identification, knife skills, and trimming.
