Database Administrator Job Description

This role will be responsible for managing and maintaining the Institute's database systems, ensuring data accuracy, security, availability, and compliance with relevant education sector standards.

The Database Administrator will be responsible for:

  • Designing and managing database systems to support student records, enrolments, learning outcomes, and business operations
  • Maintaining and updating the college's Student Management System to ensure that student records, enrolments, academic results, attendance, and progress data are accurate and well-organised
  • Implementing and monitoring security protocols to protect sensitive information within systems
  • Optimizing database performance through query tuning, indexing, and performance monitoring
  • Monitoring database health, troubleshooting performance issues, and implementing optimisation techniques to improve data retrieval speed and system responsiveness
  • Developing custom reports and dashboards to assist academic and administrative teams in data-driven decision making
Key Responsibilities

The Database Administrator will be responsible for the following key responsibilities:

  • Designing and managing database systems to support student records, enrolments, learning outcomes, and business operations

Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline
  • At least 1 year of work experience in database administration
  • Technical proficiency in tools such as MySQL, SQL Server, Power BI etc.
