About the Role
This challenging position involves working with young people in detention, providing clinical and therapeutic services that cater to their unique needs. A key aspect of this role is ensuring cultural sensitivity and competence when interacting with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate strong cultural awareness and capability to foster an inclusive environment within the team.
- Develop and deliver tailored therapeutic interventions for young people in detention, leveraging a comprehensive understanding of developmental and cognitive assessments.
- Conduct discipline-specific assessments and create reports for young people residing in youth detention centres.
- Promote effective behaviour support strategies through assessment, intervention planning, and management for young individuals displaying complex behaviours.
- Oversee suicide risk management processes, including developing safety intervention strategies and prevention plans.
- Maintain seamless communication with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders across youth detention centres.
- Coordinate case conferences and participate in case management activities to ensure cohesive service delivery.
- Provide expert advice on clinical care and management practices for young people in detention to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Cultivate meaningful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
- Facilitate peer collaboration and allocated case discussions to enhance clinical learning and development opportunities.
- Make informed decisions regarding a complex caseload to contribute to evidence-based allied health services.
- Foster strategic partnerships with internal departments to drive operational planning, policy development, and quality improvement reviews.
- Skillfully apply professional judgment to contribute to the growth of allied health services.
