Job Title

A Senior Network Planning Engineer position has become available at our organization.

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires strong technical skills, excellent communication abilities, and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the planning and development of our electrical distribution network, including assessing network capabilities, identifying areas of limitation, and developing strategies for improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead comprehensive strategic planning processes to assess network capabilities (long & short-term), identify areas of limitation, and develop network solutions and contingency plans.
  • Plan for augmentation of the network to maintain bushfire safety compliance with Rapid Earth Fault Current Limiter (REFCL) technology.
  • Develop Distribution Loss Factors, fault level forecasts, and development plans for HV and LV networks.
  • Manage delivery of current and emerging non-network solutions required to reduce network demand and generation to avoid/defer network investment.
  • Provide advanced commercial acumen, external stakeholder engagement, and understanding of regulatory models and new technologies to identify the appropriate solution(s) to address the needs of the network and customers.
  • Act as the technical subject matter expert for the business in all Network Planning matters and provide mentorship and guidance to team members.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you should have:

  • A relevant qualification in Engineering, such as a Bachelor's or Master's degree.
  • Extensive experience in contemporary electricity network planning, asset management practices, and overarching markets.
  • Expert proficiency in using electricity network analysis tools or relevant software, such as Sincal, PSS/E, PowerFactory, and/or PSCAD.
  • Proven experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously from conception to implementation and realizing program objectives.
  • Detailed knowledge of National Electricity Rules, energy markets, and relevant laws, regulations, rules, licenses, and agreements.
