About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Structural Engineering Manager to lead our Building Structures Group in South Brisbane. This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive individual to take their career to the next level.

Job Description

As a Structural Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for the strategic direction and management of our Building Structures Group. You will provide support to Project Leads (Building Structural Engineering) to ensure the group is consistently focused on financial performance, QA adherence, risk management, and staff morale. You will also represent the company externally to Clients and play a senior role in managing relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Workload Management: Manage current and future workloads within the Building Structures Group to achieve financial targets while ensuring high staff morale.
  • Project Support: Provide guidance and support to Project Leads, Engineers, and Graduate Engineers to enable them to perform successfully at all levels.
  • Client Relationships: Ensure that the Building Structures Group maintains an appropriate level of service to key Clients.
  • Design and Documentation: Design, document, and construct phase activities including project review, liaison with client and consultant team, liaison with authorities, reporting, contract administration, and quality audits.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Facilitate knowledge sharing and proactively engage with your discipline colleagues across ANZ and globally.
  • Adherence to Standards: Adhere to professional standards, ethics, and Stantec quality procedures.
  • Culture Contribution: Contribute to our company culture.
  • Direct Project Involvement: Maintain a level of direct project involvement through project management of projects.
  • Marketing and Business Development: Participate in and contribute to marketing and business development, including leading proposal submissions.
  • Cross-Selling Opportunities: Be proactive in working with and seeking cross-selling opportunities between other Buildings service lines and other Stantec Business lines.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor of Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent degree.
  • Professional Certification: Chartered Professional Engineer and ability to obtain RPEQ certification.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a Consulting environment within the Building services industry.
  • Management Experience: Experience in managing project delivery teams.
  • Project Management Principles: Experience in delivering projects through Project Management principles.
  • Proposal Preparation: Experience in leading and preparing proposals.
  • Australian Standards: Knowledge of relevant Australian Standards.
  • Risk Management: Competence and effort in managing risk exposure.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
