The Position
The IT Security Designer is tasked with the creation, evaluation, and continuous management of IT security measures across the entire IT infrastructure. This role is pivotal in shaping strategic initiatives and providing insights into security roadmaps. Acting as a liaison between the IT Security team and enterprise stakeholders, you will facilitate the secure and timely execution of projects and initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the authority in crafting effective IT security measures, employing industry best practices and standards while aligning with the organization’s risk tolerance.
- Offer IT security guidance regarding the suitability and timing of security enhancements, including support for technology implementations.
- Collaborate with project delivery teams, enterprise architects, and solution designers to develop and implement enterprise security solutions that achieve business objectives.
- Evaluate and report on the maturity of security controls and identify gaps using established enterprise risk management frameworks, aiding in the creation of remediation plans.
- Oversee security assurance testing and ensure that mitigation strategies effectively address identified vulnerabilities.
- Ensure that IT security measures are robust and appropriate for the evolving needs of a rapidly growing and diverse organization.
- Gather, analyze, and present intelligence data and trends for executive awareness and strategic planning.
- Provide expertise in assessing and deploying processes and technologies to counter emerging IT threats and vulnerabilities, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Review projects for security risk exposure and develop suitable management strategies.
- Deliver consistent and meaningful reporting on security programs and initiatives to the business.
- In collaboration with Architecture teams, implement effective IT security design patterns and frameworks.
- Design and maintain data flows that comply with security policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide expertise in the design and oversight of controls for detecting suspicious activities.
- Ensure that IT systems are equipped with adequate controls to identify and respond to potential attacks or breaches within the internal network.
About You
- Proven experience in a similar role with a strong focus on security design.
- Expertise in security design, consulting, and delivering key security capabilities in large and complex environments.
- Knowledge of Data Security controls and techniques, including Data Loss Prevention and Encryption.
- Familiarity with Information Security concepts such as risk management, security architecture, threat management, and governance.
- Experience in cloud security design across IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS environments.
- Experience working within agile and waterfall project delivery methodologies.
- Understanding of security standards and frameworks, including ITIL, CSA, OWASP, Australian Privacy Principles, APRA, PCI DSS, NIST, ISO 27001, and ISM/ASD.
