About the Role

This exciting opportunity is part of our Mission and Identity team, working closely with Sydney Catholic Schools (SCS) Church Engagement Officers. The successful candidate will work in partnership with key stakeholders, including the principal, parents, parish priest, parish staff, Religious Education Coordinator, and various church agencies and organizations.

The Family Educator will be responsible for customizing their work to meet the specific needs of the community, adapting to new situations, and contributing to the religious leadership of the school within the Catholic education system.

Selection Criteria

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A strong commitment to the practice of the Catholic Faith.
  • Experience in parish/pastoral ministry, such as Sacramental programs, family/children's liturgy, baptismal groups, or prayer groups.
  • The ability to articulate an understanding of the evangelizing and catechising mission of the Catholic Church.
  • The capacity to present church doctrine and scripture in contextually relevant ways.
  • Competency in initiating, organizing, and facilitating opportunities to connect and engage parents and families with the religious life of the school and parish.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Highly developed time management and organizational skills.
  • A willingness to participate in and contribute to a formation program facilitated by the Sydney Catholic Schools Central Office.
  • A strategic outlook and understanding of the school's position within the broader educational, ecclesial, and communal context.

You Will Be Expected To

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A completion of relevant tertiary qualifications, preferably at Diploma or Degree level.
