Indigenous Outreach Coordinator

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as an Indigenous Outreach Coordinator. In this critical role, you will be responsible for providing cultural consultation, family support, and community engagement to promote healing and empowerment among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people, families, and communities.
This position requires a strong understanding of Aboriginal culture and values, as well as the impact of trauma on individuals and communities. You will work collaboratively with key partner agencies to provide coordinated, wrap-around support for children and their families.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing psychoeducation and practical supports such as transportation and social inclusion activities.
- Empowering child, young people, families/caregivers, and communities to build strength and resilience through connection to culture.
Requirements for success in this role include:
- A knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and an awareness of the current issues faced by Aboriginal children, young people, and their families.
- A knowledge and understanding of the impact of trauma, including issues related to harmful sexual behaviours.
- A relevant qualification and/or experience in human services or related field is preferred. A combination of cultural knowledge and experience with Aboriginal healing practices will also be considered.
