Job Summary

A leading engineering consultancy is seeking a highly skilled Principal Pipeline Design Engineer to lead multidisciplinary projects across slurry, hydrohoisting, and backfill systems.

The organisation has over 30 years of international project delivery experience with expertise in designing pipeline transportation systems, backfill plants, and dewatering systems.

Main Responsibilities
  • Develop and review engineering deliverables including P&IDs, 3D models, and plant layouts for complex projects
  • Conduct hydraulic analyses and prepare technical documentation ensuring accuracy and compliance
  • Provide site support during construction and commissioning phases ensuring successful project outcomes
  • Contribute to quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives promoting best practices
  • Project Management:
    • Manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables to meet client expectations
    • Prepare proposals, fee estimates, and project schedules aligning with business objectives
    • Lead subcontractor selection and oversee project execution ensuring smooth delivery
    • Track project issues, risks, and variations to maintain project accuracy and mitigate potential losses
Candidate Profile

Required:

  • Extensive experience in designing slurry pipelines or long-distance water pipelines
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Significant Australian experience in pipeline/backfill systems design
  • Familiarity with slurry transport and backfill systems
  • Experience with CAD drafting/model review
  • Strong project management capabilities and ability to lead complex projects
  • High-level computer literacy (MS Office and engineering design tools)
  • Full Australian working rights
