Data Center Commissioning Manager

About the Role
Microsoft is seeking a highly skilled Commissioning Manager to join our Cloud Operations team in Melbourne. As a Commissioning Manager, you will play a critical role in the delivery of our cloud infrastructure, ensuring that our data centers are commissioned to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the commissioning process for assigned data center projects, ensuring that they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Develop and maintain best practices for commissioning data centers, including the development of commissioning procedures and standards.
- Collaborate with data center architects, engineers, construction managers, and other stakeholders to ensure that commissioning projects are delivered successfully.
- Manage the contracted commissioning agents assigned to data center construction projects, ensuring that they are performing to the required standards.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including data center operations teams, finance teams, and vendors.
Requirements
- 7+ years of relevant technical engineering experience, or a Bachelor's degree in a related field and 3+ years of technical engineering experience.
- At least 3 years of experience in data center construction and/or commissioning.
- Experience with electrical and mechanical test equipment.
- Strong understanding of UPS systems, switchgear, generators, and critical mechanical systems.
- Ability to develop and write detailed commissioning scripts.
- Issue identification and resolution management.
- Proficiency with MS Office, MS Visio, MS Project, and MS Teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Commissioning certification.
- OSHA 30 or equivalent qualification.
- NFPA-70E.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
