We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Payroll Officer to join our team at the Australian Department of Infrastructure. As a Payroll Officer, you will be responsible for accurately processing a wide range of salary, leave, and entitlement-related transactions, in accordance with relevant legislation, delegations, policies, and procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Process payroll transactions, including salary, leave, and entitlements, in a timely and accurate manner.
- Provide internal clients and managers with general advice and guidance on payroll-related matters.
- Prepare and send payroll-related correspondence, including emails, to ensure that employees receive accurate and timely advice regarding their entitlements and associated conditions of employment.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date personnel and leave records.
- Provide exceptional customer service and support to internal and external clients and agencies.
- Experience working in a team performing payroll-related tasks is highly desirable.
- Experience in, or the ability to quickly learn, SAP (SAP ECC6) is essential.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills, including attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to manage competing priorities.
- Experience in preparing correspondence and reports, including emails and letters, on routine matters.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a small team.

- Citizenship: To be eligible for employment with the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, and Communications, applicants must be an Australian citizen at the time of submitting their application.

- Security Clearance: The successful candidate must be able to obtain and/or maintain a security clearance at Baseline Clearance Level.
