Diesel Fitter Job Description

Karratha, WA

We are seeking a skilled Diesel Fitter to join our team in Karratha, WA. As a Diesel Fitter, you will be responsible for all aspects of mechanical repair, including analyzing, diagnosing, and repairing diesel engines and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and diagnose mechanical issues with diesel engines and equipment
  • Repair and modify diesel engines and equipment to minimize downtime
  • Study drawings to determine suitable materials and machine settings
  • Diagnose and repair hydraulic components of diesel-powered attachments
  • Use oxy, electric, TIG, and MIG welding techniques to fit, replace, and repair metal parts
  • Test repaired parts for proper performance
  • Test and repair basic electrical circuits
  • Use computers and specialized tools to diagnose and repair faults
  • Inspect equipment and machinery for faults
  • Follow workplace Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) protocols

Requirements:

  • Relevant qualifications (at least Cert III) in Engineering – Mechanical Trade or equivalent
  • Trained and relevant experience in the trade
  • Diagnostic skills
  • Able to demonstrate efficient work practices
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
  • Hydraulics/Pneumatic experience will be highly regarded
