Midwifery Specialist Role

Mater Mothers' Hospital is seeking an experienced Clinical Midwifery Specialist to join our Inpatient Services team in South Brisbane on a full-time, permanent basis.

Main Responsibilities
  • Lead and promote contemporary midwifery practice through research, education, and continuous quality improvements.
  • Develop and enhance midwifery services across clinical units with a focus on managing care for high-risk patients and mentoring junior staff.
  • Deliver complex care planning and supervision for high-risk patients.
  • Manage patient deterioration, including high-risk pregnancies and critical events.
  • Provide expert midwifery advice, education, and mentoring to junior and developing staff.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a tertiary maternity service.
  • Experience providing midwifery care to high-risk patients.
  • Proven leadership experience in a hospital environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to influence and collaborate across teams.
