We are currently seeking a highly skilled Scientific Officer to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the quality of our water supply and protecting public health.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct timely and accurate sampling of potable water, wastewater, and effluent, adhering to NATA accreditation standards.
  • Assist in collecting landfill and groundwater samples while contributing to vital environmental monitoring programs.
  • Perform diverse analyses, including dissolved oxygen, chlorine levels, pH, turbidity, and microbiological assessments, both in the lab and in the field.
  • Utilize the LIMS database for data entry, scheduling, and reporting, ensuring precision in your work.
  • Collaborate closely with Senior Scientific Officers while taking on a leadership role by training and supervising junior staff.
  • Maintain and calibrate equipment and prepare reagents, all in compliance with national accreditation guidelines.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external customers, ensuring top-notch service and support.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree of Science or equivalent knowledge.
  • Driver's License (C class).
  • Proficiency in water and wastewater analysis methods.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform precise and accurate testing, data entry, and reporting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities to effectively liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
  • A collaborative mindset with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, supporting colleagues and contributing to a positive work environment.
  • Flexibility to perform fieldwork and adapt to changing priorities and workflows as needed.
  • Familiarity with NATA accreditation requirements and national safety standards.
