About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced HSE Advisor to join our team at ALS. As a key member of our safety team, you will play a crucial role in upholding our core principle: We are Safe.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide support to management and staff to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Consult, advise, and enforce site safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with company standards.
  • Undertake HSE inspections and safety audits to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Investigate incidents, identify causes, and develop corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
  • Support managers and employees with injury prevention and management, including conducting and coordinating HSE training.
  • Manage and develop risk assessments to ensure a proactive approach to safety.
  • Monitor and record hazard observations, near misses, and injuries to identify trends and implement improvements.
  • Stay up-to-date with safety and industry best practices, and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Review and update the local safety system to ensure compliance with company standards.
Requirements
  • Formal qualifications (Cert IV minimum) and previous experience in HSE.
  • Confidence in your knowledge and ability to build rapport and trust at all levels of the organization.
  • Passion, enthusiasm, and goal-driven approach to safety.
  • Experience in incident investigations, risk assessments, and auditing.
  • Organized, level-headed, and common-sense approach to problem-solving.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency in email, MS Word, and Excel.
  • Strong computer and numeracy skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to compliance.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with team members and management.
  • Working knowledge of Health, Safety, and Environment legislation and standards.
