Manufacturing and Process Design Engineer

This is a challenging role that will have you working on the development and qualification of processes for high-rate, mixed-product manufacturing of propulsion, avionics, and welded structural assemblies.

As a manufacturing and process design engineer, your primary focus will be on designing and implementing precision tooling to eliminate assembly errors, improve quality, and minimize cycle time. You will also be responsible for automating novel processes to ensure repeatability on high-rate manufacturing lines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and perform acceptance testing of manufacturing processes, techniques, and tools
  • Design and implement precision tooling to improve product yield and reduce cycle times
  • Automate processes to ensure repeatability and efficiency
  • Work closely with design engineering teams to influence flight design and vehicle architecture
  • Develop and automate in-situ inspection techniques to increase yield and decrease cycle time

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in aerospace engineering, manufacturing engineering, materials engineering, mechanical engineering, or other engineering discipline
  • 1+ years of experience in manufacturing and process design

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in an engineering discipline
  • Hands-on project experience with mixed value stream or high-rate manufacturing lines
  • Proficiency in mechanical assembly methods, testing, failure mode effects analysis, and troubleshooting

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to work in tight quarters and perform job duties that require standing, kneeling, crouching, twisting upper body, working in cramped positions, and climbing hand over hand
  • Typically exposed to work in extreme outdoor environments - heat, cold, rain, fumes, odors, and noise
  • Flexibility to travel to remote build sites up to 10%
