About the Role

We are seeking an accomplished ER Specialist to support the delivery of our employee relations strategy and ensure that all employee issues are managed in a fair and equitable manner.

You will be responsible for providing strategic and operational ER/IR leadership, working closely with internal teams including people and culture business partners and business unit leaders across the enterprise. You will also deal extensively with the Union, external tribunals, and other external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead enterprise bargaining processes on behalf of the business, ensuring effective negotiation and agreement outcomes.
  • Manage union relationships to minimize disputes and maintain a stable industrial environment.
  • Negotiate with senior management, staff, and external stakeholders to promote best practice employment relations practices and solutions.
  • Provide written and oral advice to management on key policy, employment legislation, and emerging employment relations trends.
  • Effectively lead and/or manage investigations or processes in response to discrimination, harassment, and bullying complaints through end-to-end case management.
  • Advocate or lead support for contested matters in the Fair Work Commission and Anti-Discrimination Tribunals.
  • Proactively review P&C policy and process, identify areas for improvement, and develop and implement training to address any deficits.

About you

The BOQ group is going through an exciting period of growth and transformation, which includes our employee relations space. We are looking for an accomplished ER specialist who can engage with senior stakeholders while providing guidance and support to the rest of the P&C team.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience in leading enterprise agreement negotiations, including preparing for, negotiating, and obtaining approval of enterprise agreements.
  • Legally qualified and experienced in employment law, potentially holding a practicing certificate (ideal but not essential).
  • Demonstrated understanding of contemporary industrial and employee relations, including knowledge of recent legislation amendments.
  • Experience in preparing for, negotiating, and appearing in person at the FWC and other Courts and Tribunals.

Estimated Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 per annum, dependent on experience and qualifications.
