About the Role

Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) is seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineer to join our Onboarding and Connections Group. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in connecting and registering generators into the National Electricity Market.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the commissioning process of multiple renewable projects to ensure they reach full operational capacity.
  • Advocate for regulatory changes to support the integration of large-scale renewable energy projects into the Australian electricity market.
  • Provide expert technical advice and make informed decisions on performance standard assessment, power system stability, system strength remediation, registration, and commissioning.
  • Create a unified vision and framework for integrating diverse generation and storage technologies.
Requirements
  • Extensive experience in commissioning renewable projects.
  • Strong knowledge of R2 compliance requirements and R2 model validation.
  • Significant experience in hold point testing and witnessing of various generator systems and plants.
  • Knowledge of the electricity industry, NEM dispatch process, generator behavior, and network constraints.
  • Proven experience in managing the generator commissioning process, with robust skills in assessing and solving generator and power system performance issues.
